posted 3 May 2012, 07:43 by Lancashire Powerboat

Ahead of the Carr Mill National next month, this weekend will see powerboat drivers from across the UK gather in Oulton Broad, Suffolk for the start of the RYA British Powerboat Championships. Among them will be LPRC’s Malcolm Goodman driving for JPL Racing who is looking to retain his Formula 2 championship title from 2011.

Charlotte Newton will be driving the GT15 for Top Cat Racing will be hoping that problems with her boat in club racing last month will be ironed out to get her a good start from the jetty.

Charlotte’s Top Cat team mate T850 driver Mike Pillow and his boat are now both fully recovered from their ducking at Carr Mill during testing in March. Bill Owen won the Oulton Broad National last year in the T850 class so another Wherry wind might be what he needs.

Bill’s ‘Last of the Summer Wine Racing Team’ partner Dave James (“check out the boat trailer”) along with Jordon Muckles, Ben Morse, Tiegen Goodfellow will also be making the trip to the East.

Racing takes place on Sunday 6th and Monday 7th at Oulton Broad and the LPRC team will be keeping you up to date throughout the weekend with latest news on twitter @LPRC1 and on Facebook www.facebook.com/lprc1.
